It seems that coffee is integrating into every part of our lives — it was with great anticipation that I purchased a bottle of Coca-Cola Blak.
According to the fine folks of Coca-Cola, Blak is “a fusion of Coke effervescence with coffee essence”. As a person who has long enjoyed a cold Coke on a hot summer day, this seemed like an interesting combination.
At around $1.50 a bottle, Coca-Cola Blak is on par in cost with other specialty drinks such as Red Bull. The bottle it comes in is surprisingly made of glass.
Serving size is 8 oz. Coke Blak has 45 calories compared to the 100 calories in regular Coke and has twice the caffeine than regular Coke (according to Consumer reports).
But what does it taste like? Well I can tell you that in my opinion the majority of the essence of coffee that it claims to capture is the caffeine. Coca-Cola Blak had more of an amaretto and Coke taste to me. There was a vague hint of what I might describe as a cappuccino taste.
Coca-Cola Blak is an “acquired” taste if you ask me. If given the choice of a nice latte or Coca-Cola Blak, I would choose the latte in a heartbeat. There are quite a few amusing videos out about Coke Blak.
