Well like many people I have a problem. No, its not a coffee addiction. How could that ever be considered a problem? My problem is bad work coffee. You have all had it, its either weak swill or bitter burnt sludge. Either way you look at it, you can be in for a bad cup o’ joe.

I mentioned off hand to my wife that I would like to get a French Press. Well some months went by and I forgot all of those thoughts. Lo and behold, Christmas came and so did my new French Press!

I have to admit something, my French Press didn’t come from France, or some ultra chic location. It wasn’t hand crafted by fine Italian artisians, okay, but is is pretty cool for coming from Bed Bath & Beyond… the Bodum Chambord Coffee Press – Model # 1928-16.

The experience is visceral, you grind the beans and add the boiling water and wait as the blackest sludge steeps in front of you. 5-6 minutes later your coffee is ready. Gentle pushing the plunger down pushes the grounds to the bottom and you are ready to serve.

Something I really like is that the coffee has more particulates suspended than conventional brewed coffee. You will get a little grounds now and then, but nothing too bad. Its a rich old world experience that I really find myself enjoying.
